Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ
We have always been a design build contractor and we plan to keep it that way. It is our experience that outside designs end up costing more in the long run as they are not able to cater to specific project needs. With design build, we are the direct line of communication, resulting in smoother and faster installations with fewer surprises.
Oftentimes, if you have a large project, the answer should be yes. But in some cases, you can contract directly with Empire Fire Protection. For instance, you are installing a new walk-in cooler and hired a refrigeration sub, and now realize you need a sprinkler sub too. Give us a call and we can take care of the small stuff. Or maybe your maintenance team noticed a leaky sprinkler pipe: give us a call to handle it.
As they should. At every final inspection we will provide you as the owner, or one of your representatives with a thorough walkthrough of the fire sprinkler system, showing where the shutoff valves are in case of an emergency. Keep in mind though, only a licensed fire sprinkler contractor can legally work on your system- so if your forklift driver snaps a head off, make sure to call us and we will come out and fix it.
Though uncommon, there have been recalls on sprinkler heads over the years, most commonly for sprinklers manufactured with O-rings during a specific time period. You may be entitled to get the recalled sprinklers replaced for free if you meet certain requirements and catch it during the recall window. Just remember, we do not manufacture sprinklers, so don't shoot the messenger! If you run into this situation, give us a call and we can schedule a walkthrough with you to see what it’s going to take to get the problem fixed.
Commercial systems require annual inspection per NFPA 25. These inspections are required to be completed by certified inspectors, and then filed with the local authorities. At this time, Empire Fire Protection does not conduct annual inspections, but we look forward to providing this service in the future. In the meantime, we can refer you to a local company for your inspection needs.
